2013 FASD Charity
COVENANT HOUSE FLORIDA |
Since 1985, Covenant House
Florida has been serving the needs of runaway and homeless
youth in South Florida. Our 75 bed crisis shelter in Fort
Lauderdale provides residential services to youth under the
age of 21, including teenage mothers and their young
children. Besides residential services, we also offer
extensive counseling services, health services, substance
abuse treatment, GED instruction, family counseling,
assistance in finding employment, and an opportunity to move
into transitional housing and independence. Since opening,
we have provided services to over 35,000 youth.
Most of the young people that come to us have spent at least
one night living on the streets. Many have spent weeks not
knowing where they will get their next meal or how they will
stay physically safe. We offer not only that safety and
basic sustenance, but the opportunity to either repair
relationships at home that would allow for reunification
with family, or the skills and service needed that will
ultimately lead to independent living.
As part of our service array, each youth living with us
receives 3 healthy (dietitian approved) meals per day and a
healthy snack. All donations received from participants of
the FASD Conference will be dedicated toward the costs of
our food services.
NEEDS - CASH or Gently used clothing particularly
attire that our youth can use when they go out to interview
for work. Gift cards are very useful, particularly from
Target or Wal-Mart - OR CASH!
